Bayonnais, Haiti

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere with a population of over 10 million and 80% live in poverty. Eight out of every 100 children die before they reach their 5th birthday. The child you provide a scholarship for will attend the OFCB Ministries School and your monthly support will allow us to make significant, sustainable contributions for the benefit of your child and the community. OFCB, founded 14 years ago, now has 1,700 students in K-13, and since 2003 has been providing scholarships for gifted students to attend university in Port au Prince.

Baby chicks in Bayonnais!

One of the best-kept secrets of our Haitian friends was revealed on February 8th shortly after our arrival at the OFCB campus. They took us to see the recently completed, modern chicken-raising facility up by the Granary of Joseph. It was shockingly beautiful and had already received its first delivery of 1,000 chicks, who appeared to be very efficient at peeping, eating and drinking, as well as creating the next industry in Bayonnais... manure for the gardens. There is also a future in eggs.
